We're staying at an old row house at 610 8th St. NE in Washington, D.C. We are all trying to figure out what the people that live here do. There are a lot of cookbooks and travel books from exotic locations so I had a theory that the owner was a chef. Will posited because of all the entrepreneurial books in the office that they owned a startup. The Wifi is called rootchange. So probably.

At any rate, they are not here and we are the benefactors of their recently-prepared-for-rental house. High ceilings, remodeled bathrooms and kitchen. The theme seems to be twos. Two staircases, two showerheads that run simultaneously in the master bath, two ovens, two garbages, two sinks, two dishwashers, three tables to eat at. Not sure if the house _is_ older than ours, but it feels more classic.

We had an excellent day yesterday - just enough tourism and catching up w Will & Virgil. We visited the Museum of Native American History and the Hirshhorn.

The day before that, Will took us on a tour of the capitol which was crowded, but informative and emotional in a way. The statues were striking - the America version of the Hollywood Boulevard of Stars, some that recognized some that you've hardly even heard of. And you gotta say that a room that holds Rosa Parks, Jefferson Davis and Brigham Young is thought provoking, if nothing else. E pluribus unum.

Ocean is very good Wordle starter word. As is canoe. It's the same letters. (thanks for pointing this out, Laurie Anderson, you with your own room at the Hirshhorn Museum of Modern Art.

Ran this morning and I'm so glad I did. To not run because now I'm slow or my knees pain me would be to rob joy from myself. I have a new relationship - no expectations in terms of speed. Stay humble and grateful that I can still be outside and it's so good to have the ability to explore. Running and of course biking gives one the ability to take in more. I ran 7.45 miles – from here to the Jefferson Memorial, which was remarkable and powerful. Such good words! You can cancel the man but you can't cancel the words. I am no apologist, but he would be proud of what we are today and glad for the protests that are politely shushed in our midst. I chatted and ran briefly with a young man and two women – I asked him where he was from and he said Princeton, New Jersey - and I said Montclair! So we bonded over our New Jersey-ness. From his discussion with the young women I gathered that he was working her and giving them a tour. We ran around the Lagoon to the FDR Memorial, the MLK Memorial and then I ran towards the Washington Memorial and back along the Mall, tacking through the streets. It was warm and I was drenched. It felt great honestly. Drained but in a good way.
